UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following
O R D E R
Learned counsel for the respondent, State of Maharashtra, upon instructions, informs that 16.02.2024 is the next date fixed for framing of charges. He further submits that the petitioner has hardly been in custody for about a year. As such, some reasonable time may be granted to the Trial Court to at least proceed with the recording of evidence of the witnesses of fact.
In view of the above, we are not inclined to consider the prayer for grant of bail to the petitioner at this stage. The special leave petition is, accordingly, dismissed.
However, it would be open for the petitioner to renew his prayer for bail after one year in case the trial is not concluded by that time.
