MUMBAI, INDIA – May 12, 2022 – The Sessions Court in Greater Mumbai has granted bail to Mohammed Ayubali Raju Khan, a 20-year-old accused of robbery. The court, presided over by Additional Sessions Judge B.V. Wagh, granted bail in connection with C.R. No. 216/2022 registered at Wadala T.T. Police Station.
Khan was arrested for allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint on April 21, 2022. According to the prosecution, the complainant was stopped at a signal when Khan entered his car, brandished a knife, and snatched his mobile phone and cash.
Defense lawyer R.P. Singh argued for Khan’s release, while APP Ratnavali Patil represented the prosecution.
Judge Wagh, after reviewing the investigation papers, noted that Khan was apprehended on the same day as the incident. During his police custody, the stolen items, including the mobile phone, cash, and knife, were recovered. Khan was subsequently remanded to judicial custody on April 27, 2022.
The court observed that the investigation had progressed considerably, and further incarceration of Khan was deemed unnecessary. The court also considered Khan’s young age and the potential negative influence of hardened criminals in custody.
Ultimately, the court granted Khan bail, subject to stringent conditions:
- Bail Bond: Khan was required to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 15,000/- with a surety of the same amount.
- Address and Contact Information: Khan must provide his residential address proof and contact numbers to the investigating officer.
- Police Attendance: Khan must report to Wadala T.T. Police Station every Monday between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM until the charge sheet is filed.
- No Influence on Witnesses: Khan is prohibited from directly or indirectly influencing witnesses.
- Travel Restriction: Khan cannot leave India without prior court permission.
This decision reflects the court’s consideration of the progress of the investigation, the recovery of stolen goods, and the accused’s young age. The stringent conditions imposed aim to ensure Khan’s cooperation with the legal process and prevent any potential obstruction of justice. The case will be monitored as it proceeds through the lower court.
